Politics and What Time?

The primaries were held last Tuesday; all I can say is THANK GOD! In SC it's a battle of the conservative vs. the extremely conservative. I had to make sure there was actually a democratic party here. I may have to leave town (hey Mel, let's plan a vacation) during the regular election or stop listening to the radio and TV altogether.

There are some REALLY great things about SC. However, they do have a different sense of timeliness here. If you're punctual, or a planner (like me), it could drive you nuts! For instance. . . we arranged to grind down a couple stumps in our back yard. Matt (the stump guy) emailed he'd be here June 10th. I called him the morning of the 10th to confirm his arrival time. He replied apologetically, "Oh I thought Friday was the 10th, I'm so sorry, I'll work around your schedule. What time would you like me to be there on Friday?" I arranged for him to come between 10 - 10:30 am. When I called him at 11:00 to see where he was, he replied, "Oh is it 10:30 already?" Well, it's now 3:00 and he's apparently "on his way". The way one of my neighbors put it, "If someone tells you he'll be there Tuesday at 9:00 am, make sure you ask him which Tuesday."
